Valerie Nam

Staff Associate, Advising and New Student Programming

Valerie is excited to join the MIT community as a Staff Associate for Advising and New Student Programming. Prior to joining the Office of the First Year, she worked as an Assistant Director of Admissions in the Boston area as well as a College Adviser for high school students. She is excited to return to her advising roots and to help guide students throughout their time at MIT. Valerie’s main focus in OFY is to develop and implement programming and events that will support first-year students in their transition to campus. Valerie has lived and studied in the Boston area for her whole life. She is originally from Lawrence, MA, and received both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education Degree in Higher Education Administration from Boston University. In her free time, Valerie enjoys trying new recipes, going on walks along the Charles River, and playing with her two cats, Maple and Benji.
